Hey, i just got a S-afc II, and im wondering how to tune it for nitrous. i know how to tune it for NA, lean it out, more power, watch egts... but what about nitrous? do i richen it up, lean it out, or run it with 0% correction? DSMJim, i read that you set up a NA and a Nitrous setting on your dads maxima, what did you do? thanks for the help.

...what kind of system are you using on your N/A? Wet? Dry?

Yeah I did that on my dads car. He has a wide band from Tech Edge in his car. We monitored Air Fuel ratio with RPM and ran the car down the track N/A a few times doing minor adjustments until his AFR was 13.2-13.3 across the board NA. He went 13.5 @ 99mph with that setup from 13.8 so he picked up 3/10ths from SAFC tuning.

On nitrous we went to the second map on the SAFC2 (because you can switch them) and started from 0 again and logged the air fuel ratio and rpm and watched what happens. On nitrous 11.5:1 air fuel ratio is a good nitrous setting which we were pretty close to. It was rich in the beginning and a little lean at the end so we adjusted the SAFC to get the nitrous air fuel ratio nice and level across the board. These settings were pretty good for every size shot from 35 to 200 so the tuning didn't change with the shot size thank god.

was that 11.5:1 ratio for power or for safety? my auto's teacher is buying my "class"(upon my request :D ) that inovate wideband o2. i dunno when hes gonna order it tho cuz hes out of town till thursday. would my best bet be to mildly tune it for NA now using my autometer a/f and egt gauge, and leave the second setting at 0% correction accross the board untill i can tune it with a widband? then fine tune my NA setup with the wideband too? thanks for the help.

Use the wideband for everything really. 11.5:1 is the AFR for nitrous powere cars. Ofcourse that is for only when nitrous is being sprayed. NA cars are 13.0-13.3 and Turbo is 11.8-12.2 for maximum power. Nitrous needs to be richer than turbo because of the nature of nitrous. You can run it leaner but it's not recommended to.
