Hello all,
So, maybe you've seen our Newbie thread on our Grandview High School project, but we're working on getting a 95 gsx back on the road. It came with many mods, but most importantly, DSMlink v2. That said, I want to start training a small group of kids up to learn how to tune. What I'd really like is a BOOK suggestion that I could buy off of Amazon, etc, that I could have them read. In the end, I'd like to just teach them basic stuff. Not just DSMlink, but hopefully if they learn the principles of tuning, they can then apply it to our car. All that said, I don't want to take my whole class through it, so I thought a book would be a good place to start. I've got a couple that i bought back in college, but hoped maybe some of you had some first hand experience with a couple good reads.
All that said, I'd love to hear YOUR thoughts on how you'd teach a total newbie about engine tuning. For these kids, we need to start even with the most basic things like what each sensor on a fuel injected car does, etc. Then start talking air/fuel, knock, etc, and then talk tuning.
Any fool can bolt/unbolt junk, tuning actually takes some brains and knowhow. I see so many cars in ym town that nobody knows how to tune... Anyway, save that rant for later...
