My left cable broke pretty much at the bracket. I have new cables that I am going to install tomorrow.

My question is, how to I get the cables off of the tranny bracket? Looks like there's a square piece that fits over the cable or something, but I don't know. The metal piece on the cable is circular, and assuming it slides into the U-groove on the bracket.

Do I just pull straight up on the cables and they pop out or???

Alright so once the retaining clip is out, I can just pull the cable out? My friend was saying something about having to slide the cable back and up or something...

What about for inside the car...I believe there's another bracket? Do the same thing for that?

yeah the inside and outside have the same "u shaped brackets that u can take off with pliers. once you take them off unhook them from the nipples and pull from one side. either pull tham out from the outside towards you or pull them from the inside towards you. . if this helps tag it.. . lo. trying to get my rep up :)

Yes, its the same as the other. After that unkook cables from the shifter, through the firewall, and the top of the tranny.

well on my 91 i did unhook them from the tranny and the bracket holding them as well as the shifter base and the shifter. at the firewall mine where bolted in and a bracket holding them down right in front of the ecu. pull my cables into the cab to remove them. I had to hope it helps

So there's two bolts holding the bracket to the firewall, then one bracket near the ECU that has those retaining clips and one more bracket with retaining clips which is the tranny bracket....right?
