Okay, here is my dilemma...

My spyder is lowered, not a drastic amount i think i have the pro kit, and it still scrapes the front bumper (on the bottom), sometimes. I am looking for something to protect it and or take the damage so it doesn't get all scuffed up. When i had my c5 corvette i had these little wheels that hit first, does anyone make things like that for the 2g?

Thanks :dsm:

Try a sheet metal strip that fits to the underside lip to take the scrapes.

Does anyone sell somthing like this?
You could look around, but most sheet metal fabrication shops should be able to make one for you that you will never notice, except for at night when it scrapes and you see the spark. :thumb: It should only have to be about 1 1/2 inches wide, just enough to cover the lip on the bottom.

go to lowes/HomeDepot and find a sheet of aluminum. you can either spray it black or spray it silver.. whatever color. this will protect it from corroding.

then go ahead and either take your bumper off to measure, or measure directly on the car. cut the aluminum to shape, drill holes, and plop it on. :thumb:

I remember hearing that placing a piece underneath would cause the bumper(if fiberglass) to shatter around the screw holes. I just got used to sanding down and repainting the front every year :(

i make carbon fiber ones that go across the whole lip. works great.
Picture would make my day. :)

Scraping your bumper can only be prevented by the driver. Drive slower when your lowered. Take everything at angles. I remember when my front was 3" off the ground I made it up a steep curb because I was like driving parallel with the curb. And I didn't scrape at all. :D I'm so proud of myself.
But if you want, put some plastic under the bumper. The metal will rub on the bumper and scrape paint. Plastic may do the same but I know it won't do as much damage as metal would.

i can get a pic kinda soon cuzi have to replace my front bumper because someone hit my car but you dont have to screw the carbon fiber one on because i can bound it with the epoxy resin. you can also rivit or screw it on with washers and nuts so it wont crack the fiberglass bumper.

He is talking about scraping the bumper, having a carbon fiber lip will not make it any better. In fact itll make it lower and carbon fiber is scaratched easier and even easier to break.

And what if you got a carbon fiber splinter. I heard those hurt really bad!
