this will probly sound dumb but I tried searching like crazy and found nothing. I was looking at flywheels and noticed most of them are for 6 bolt engines, but I will probably have a 7 bolt engine (2g) so im wondering what exactly I have to do to make it a 6 bolt and wondering how much of a pain it is to do so? any good tutorials out there like vfaq does? I tried searching them too but found nothing. thanks.

you have to swap the entire motor if you want 6. 90-early 92 had 6bolt motors while late 92-99 have 7 bolt motors.

just get a 7 bolt flywheel if a flywheel is what youre trying to do.

so the 6 bolt stuff is for the 1g motors only? ill probly be working with a 2g motor and id rather not run the risk of walking, but thats a whole other story.

see this is whats buggin me, half the people seem like they are way overacting about crankwalking, yet the other half say it barely happens (even my friends dad who is a master mechanic) and im thinking it will probably not happen, but I will have a built motor, so I guess if it blows up it blows up, just have to try and watch for it.

Agreed. Now quit worrying and go buy one.:thumb:

You seem to be confused.

The name "6-bolt" or "7-bolt" describes the number of bolt holes in the crank of the engine. It is the easiest way to describe the differences but this isn't the only one. The size of the head mounting hardware is different, the size of the rods is different, the crank caps are different, etc.

So you can't 'make your 7-bolt into a 6-bolt' any more than you can 'make a V8 into an inline 4'.

It's an all or nothing deal, and you ain't got the all. Run your 7-bolt into the ground and if it walks, then deal with it.
