How to get 200 hp or more from a n/t engine

I recently bought a 98 eclipse rs and was wounder some good ways to mod it to reach or exceed 200 hp without a turbo for now. I'm new to this so the more info I take in the better I can understand my engine it's potential. Thanks in advance

A good 200 Shot should do just fine...



But seriously... as a newbie, you should learn to use the search features throughout this site, they will help you dearly...

*Intake Manifold
*Cold Air Intake
*Spark Plug Wires
*4-2-1 Headers

You obviously wont reach near 200hp by just adding those, if you seriously wanna see those types of gains you better think about spraying or boost

Like DSM_PWR said, not only will those mods be helpful, but if you're spraying you'll be closer to your HP goals.

Then again there is a risk of the engine being hurt from doing it. The money that's being put in for mods, can be put towards a GST/GSX model.

My first car was a 96 Talon ESi and when I went boosted it was far more superior!

If anything, keep the car as a Daily Driver as it until you have the funds for another car. If you wanted to go that route.

Same, I also started with a ESI for my first DSM. Its just far to expensive to try to make the 420a fast. They do make a nice DD though.

I agree to keep it as a Daily and save up for a GST/GSX... after you'll wonder why you ever wanted to mod a n/t

Thanks guys for the input and I will search next time. I'm just hyped up it's my first car and it's a car I've always wanted but I think I will take the advice and make it my dd car hopefully next year i can find a gsx

same here man this is my first car i ever had its my dd till i get a gsx

nos, and dynoing on a dynapack dyno. those usually read 30hp higher than other dynos. Then have the tuner correct for elevation levels on the graph and bam, you will have 200hp.

Someone JUST broke the world record for n/a 420a and its just over 200whp.
