Hi all,

I have a male AN fitting (oil restrictor) and I need to measure the AN size so I can order another one?

How do I do it?

I have a fitting and a pair of calipers. The fitting measures ~ 0.425 inches or 11mm. What AN is that? -3 or -4 AN?

Thanks,

Tom

So the restrictor male end diameter is 0.425 inches.
The pipe female fitting end diameter is 0.375 inches.

0.05 difference for the threads.

Using the pipe female fitting end I get 3/8" or 6/16" so that would be 6AN? That doesn't sound right because the restrictor I ordered comes in 3AN and 4AN (here is the link: EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - Garrett Dual Ball Bearing Oil Restrictor Fitting)

The restrictor male end measures about 0.425 inches which doesn't make sense to me.

Sigh... I just don't know.

Looking at those fittings you should have one end that is standard thread like a 7/16 flared end, and then you should have a AN end. So check the other end and see what is measures is it smaller, or bigger.

Sounds good.

Second question.

Where can I get a -4AN to 3/8 NPT fitting? The 3/8 NPT will go into my oil filter housing and the -4AN end will connect to my oil feed line.

Thanks,

Tom

Don't know what you have in Canada, im lucky enough to have a place near by that stocks alot of Aeroquip fittings. Okay I have the book with Aeroquip in it, does not show a -4an to 3/8. You will need a bushing no big deal. So here are the Aeroquip part numbers for what you need, might try calling someplace near you.

Bushing 3/8 to 1/4-FCM2137
Straight Fitting 1/4 to -4an-FCM2002

Edit- Just found they make a steel version of a 3/8 to 4an, don't know what would be better steel or alluminum, but the part number for that is FCM2519
