How to change your lower injector seals

This is a pretty common spot for a boost leak. Over time the seals actually turn into plastic. This is a pretty simple job if you take your time and do it right. So lets get started.

1. Relieve your fuel system. You do this by removing your rear seat cushion by pulling on the two rings at the bottom of the cushion and then lifting up. If you have a chilton their picture is incorrect. It shows to disconnect the connector under the middle access plate. It is actually the passenger side access plate. The plate is connected by 4 phillips screws. Remove those then the access plate and disconnect the electrical connector. I like to unscrew the gas cap too. To release some of the pressure. access plate.jpg

2. Tag and remove the plug wires.

3. Remove the high pressure fuel line. The bolts are 10 mm. Put a rag under it to catch any of the fuel that leaks. Then plug the end of the line so nothing can get in it. When you go to connect the line again use a new o-ring. That way you dont run the risk of spraying fuel every where.

4. Remove the the vacuum hose and fuel return hose from the pressure regulator.

5. Remove the regulator from the fuel rail. The bolts are 10 mm. Replace the o-ring when you go to put it back on.

6. Tag and disconnect the injector connectors.

7. Remove the three fuel rail mounting bolts. The bolts are 12 mm

8. CAREFULLY lift up on the fuel rail. There is a fuel rail spacer under each of the fuel rail mounting bolts. Be very careful you do not drop them. It is not fun fishing around for them. When you go to put the rail back on I recommend using a little black sylicone. So they will stay. Finish removing the the fuel rail carefully and put it somewhere where it can't get harmed.

9. Remove the 4 injector seals from the 4 holes in the intake manifold.

10. Put the new seals back in.

11. I recommend replacing your injector o- rings too. So pull slowly and carefully on the injectors untill they slide out. Replace the o-ring and put the injector back in the fuel rail. Coat the o-ring lightly with oil.

12. Put everything back together, start it up, check for leaks, then do a boost leak test to see if you're still leaking.

Hopefully I can get some pictures up with the rail actually off. That would probably be alot more heplful.

Good luck, hope this helps
