Trying to get the O2 sensor out of the housing and it's not budging an inch. I swear I'm going to either strip the thing out or round the O2 sensor or both. Anyone know an easier approach?

Make sure you take it out when the car's hot, go beat the piss out of it for awhile.

But, you may end up stripping it anyways, when I took the O2 sensor out of a '90 in 2002, it was in there so good the threads stayed in the housing, but I got the sensor out.

/good excuse to upgrade to 2G manifold/o2 housing

But yea, PB Blaster, heat, PB Blaster, heat.

Ya, I am trying to get the 02 sensor out of my 90 tsi. But the head is off right know so I wont be able to do a "bag run" on it to heat it up. I have it soaked with liquid wrench 24/7 and it still doesn't budge.

I am going to take off the 02 housing from the downpipe, and put the 02 housing in a vice and try using an impact on the bastard.

when i took the original out of mine i had it up on a lift holding up to a breaker bar
and hanging
before it would come loose
then as soon as the threads slipped i was on my ass

Allrightythen!!!!

I know it's not the DSMer's way, but I had to get to school and I took it to a shop and they charged me $20 to get it out.

Even though I did have the O2 sensor socket and I soaked the crap out of the thing with PB blaster, it never broke loose.

It's got the new sensor in it now and it has made a profound difference in the car's drivability. Now all I have to do is the 2G exhaust manifold, the stainless steel studs for said manifold, the fuel filter, the throttle body rebuild, a boost gauge install and turbo timer install. Then I'll be done... for now MWUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Thanks for all the replies though!
