How much WHP can the stock drive shafts handle???

I have everything I need to be in the 600-650whp range. Just wondering if there is anything I need to consider drive shaft wise, before I go to the drag strip and have to trailer the car back home.

Because that would be the suck!!!

If you actually manage a 600+whp tune, your going to want to look into DriveShaftShop axles and possibly hubs or at the very least Fidanza Axles.

in all seriousness, you could break a driveshaft with a completely stock dsm, it all depends on how you launch the thing. asking for an exact hp number is pointless.

There's a guy on here (Evil Eagle) that's running upwards of 500whp on the stock drivetrain, but is running 215mm tires to preserve things (still runs 10s). Slicks or a sticky-compound tire would definitely push the stock drivetrain limits though.

If you are at that level, then breaking stuff is inevitable. Embrace it, as you are doing something right (making power) . Just stock up on spare parts (transfer case, rear axles) and when things break, replace it. And when you get tired of replacing, upgrade

I have heard of high hp cars on stock drivetrain do fine. Alot of it is getting it out of the whole smoothly and slipping it. Now if you want to launch at 6000+ rpm's on DR or slicks, you may want a good built tranny and axles throughout. I myself would rather put a clutch in once a year, instead of trans and axles all the time. Just my .02
