How much Syncromesh?

Like all DSMs my 2nd gear is grinding. I can ####y foot up-shifts from 1st-2nd. ANYWAY I took it and had the trans flushed and topped up with 2 litres of synthetic gear oil (GL-5 or whatever the book called for) and 1 liter of Syncromesh. 100 bucks later and it STILL GRINDS. Was I suppost to completely fill it with 3 litres of straight syncromesh? Whats the deal..

what you want to do is drain all that out and put approx. 2.3 quarts (should start dripping out of the filler hole) of gm or pennzoil syncromesh. and your good to go.

I put in 3 full bottles and not a drop dripped out the filler hole. I wonder where it all went. No leaks, 100 bucks on fluids? or is that labor and fluid?

try the royal purple gear lube I did it on mine and it shifts just fine it's a bit expensive though but it works

you want GL-4 in there, NOT GL-5 ( it will corrode the syncros.... )

you should have had it filled with straight syncromesh.

and I hope that was $100 Canadian dollars that you paid
