I've been dealing with an ignition problem for a while and finally figured out it was my ignition plugs not making solid contact with the injectors. As a temporary fix I zip tied the plug pigtails down to the injectors and the car ran phenomenally.
Today, I decided to permanently fix the problem and solder on the new pigtail injector plugs. Like an idiot
I used a power converter to run the soldering gun, and turned the ignition to "on" instead of "accessories." A number of times while I was soldering I could feel a zap as a grounded against the engine but didn't think anything about it. Eventually, as I was soldering, I heard a buzz, as if a sensor was engaging something. It stopped quickly, and I continued soldering.
When I was finished with the injector plugs, I tried to start the car and it started and idled around 400 rpms. The CEL flicked on and threw 4 codes! A knock sensor code, a barometric code, a intake temperature sensor code (both MAF codes), and an igntion coil / igntion power transistor unit code.
I thought I fried the ECU... changed it out, and it's fine. So I replaced the PTU and it relieved all the codes. The car starts at it's normal cold operating rpms (near 1500) but shakes violently and when it gets throttle, is laggy and slow.
I so obviously screwed up, and could sell the car as a result of a long list of screw ups, but am wondering if there is a sequence of sensors to follow that I could have fried? I was working on the number 4 injector when I grounded out the system.
