How many motor mounts does my 99gst have ? I just replaced the.bottom front one (the roll stop mount) the other day and sometimes I still get a clunk when going from 1-2nd gear.

4. One on the timing belft side, one on intake/transmission side, one in the rear (under the intake manifold), and one in the front (which is the one you stated you replaced)

There's another roll stop on the back of the trans, opposite of the front roll stop. That mount is notorious for causing that annoying clunk when shifting. First check to make sure the main bolt isn't missing. If the mount is torn and needs to be replaced, make sure you remove the VSS before trying to remove the mount.

Ok I'm thinking the one under the intake may need to be replaced. Is it really under the manifold or under the car to the rear? Is it hard to get to?

There is 4 mounts all together. The one behind the engine that bolts to the support is probably your culprit. But the others you can see pretty well. Besides the one you replaced there is one on each side of the engine bay.

Ok. At first someone said under the manifold and I was confused. Is the rear trans one hard to get to? Or do I need a lift to get to it? ANd what's a vss?

Take the battery, the battery tray/plate/support out and you'll see it right in front of you. If you have the ability to change the front roll, you should be able to get the rear off. You need a couple of long extensions or a swivel. I just swapped poly inserts in last week. Wasn't the worst mount by far, that distinction goes to the trans mount. Let me know if you need any help with it bud.

Joe that mount you are describing seems to be ok. It seems there is one on the bottom rear of the transmission that needs attention.

Can anyone give me a part number to this mount? Sometimes these guys at the part store are fkn clueless when it comes to looking up stuff.

I was referring to the roll stop under the intake manifold. The only way to get to it is from the sides/above. Taking the battery junk out gives you a clear view. I can get you a part number for it when I get home in about an hour unless someone else chimes in first.

Ok it sounded like you meant the one directly under the battery tray itself. If it's not too much trouble can you snap a quick pick of where it is exactly so I have a better idea?

If you look under your throttle body elbow, it is all the way at the bottom.

I thought it was the most evil to replace when I did my prothanes. The trans one was difficult but I just unbolted the cross beam and lowered the motor with a floor jack. It slipped right out then.
