So I bought a 2g manifold to put on my 1g but im not really sure on how to do it. It looks pretty much straight forward except for 1 bolt on the right side. Its right behind something and idk how to get it.

Is there a tutorial for a 1g header removal? I know theres a 2g but thats not what I need.

Thanks

You just take off the 4 bolts on top of the manifold(make sure to use PB buster and let is soak for about 10 minutes)and undo all the exhaust stud nuts and put a new manifold to head gasket on and manifold to exhaust housing gasket and your set.

You should be able to fit a short 3/8" socket on that bolt or a regular open end wrench.

What about the verrry right nut thats behind whatever that thing is? Its like impossible to get to:banghead:

I got to fight with the bolt yesterday! I spent about a good 15minutes with a 12mm wrench moving it very slowly....It's not too bad, getting it back on will be the pain probably..You can pick that gasket up for pretty cheap from Autozone or somewhere else..

You just need to take your time with it, that one takes awhile but comes off eventually. Like I said, PB buster is your friend. Also, make sure to check your turbo exhaust housing for cracks etc as they are very notorious for cracking.

You can work hard, like these gentleman have suggested, or work smart. Working smart would mean undoing the power steering belt, demounting the power steering pump, and removing the two bolts (I believe they are 12mm) holding in the power steering bracket that is in the way. Doing this makes it extremely easy to access that lower right-hand exhaust manifold nut.

I've never been able to properly torque that nut without removing these things. Who knows, you may spend just as much time doing that than going slow and steady on just that one nut.

You could do what was posted above, it's what I should have done but I thought it would take too long, but now that I've had to take it off, I will most likely do what was stated above so I can torque them, don't think its possible to torque them without taking it off..

I'm pretty sure you're struggling with the same one I did:cry: It's the power steering pump bracket, that's getting in your way.
Like it has been said in the replies, it's a major PITA, but it'll come off eventually. OR you can do what I did and it takes a little more time, but I took the power steering pump off and removed the bracket and cut off the corner that gets in the way. Put it back on and call it good. OF COURSE, make sure you pull the exhaust off while the pump bracket is off:thumb:
I have included a couple of pic's of my bracket after it was cut and you can see there's tons of room to get it off now.

Good Luck;)

Just take your time with that nut, shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to get it off with a regular wrench.

Idk if you can get to the bolt with a socket with just unbolting the power steering pump. I removed the pump from the bracket and then the bracket itself. Its really not hard to do and would only take a couple of mins. Better to do it right than to strip that nut and have more problems than you started with. :sneaky:

Well guys I finally got it. My dad ended up helping me with the power steering pump and I thought it would be hard as shit to get off but we got into it and it wasent hard at all haha Now I know how to do it and quick too.

Thanks everyone
