Horespower rating expected if I installed the "on a budget" package from the website?

On this website - a "on a budget" package was created under the "tuning guide" button at the top of the website. I have a 1995 eagle talon tsi awd. if I installed all 8 of the products listed in that chart what would you guess my horsepower to be? I would turn the boost up to around 15 psi. I would also buy a BOV.

Why?

My 1g trapped 102 mph without any weight reductions, with only those mods, on pump gas. That's a solid 250 whp.

220 is a lower guestimate, since he has a 2g.

Assuming about 20% drivetrain loss, a STOCK 2g will put around 170 horsepower to the wheels. Are you telling me that those mods wouldn't gain you any power at all?

touchey!

I hate questions like this. Just buy it and put it on the car, it will be faster than it was before. Every car is different, so you can not tell how much you will get of it.

Nah, I think it is a good thing he asked, this is what the site is for.Maybe it belonged in the newbie section(no offense), but regardless no one wants to waste their money, and he is just simply making sure the mods are worth the money.

And yes you will for sure be over 200 at the wheels.

I disagree this isn't the 14b which has more potential then the T25. I don't think he will be pushing more then 200 to all the wheels. I think it will be more 190. You should pick up alot more torque though.

its not like the items on the buget upgrade give you THAT much HP.

How do you know this?

A full exhaust, intake, and boost controller will contribute to solid power gains.

Yeah no kidding, just because they aren't "name brand" product's doesn't mean they won't perform any less.

You misunderstood me, I didn't mean that non-namebrand parts pefrom any less then namebrand parts. I'm just saying with an intake, exhaust and MBC which is basically what the budget uprgrades are I would not expect to pick up to much more then 20hp to the wheels. Espically since the T25 can't make nearly as much HP as the 14b. I think 20hp is a pretty soild gain but if you go in expecting to make over 200 to the wheels you might be dissapointed.(Not to say it can't be done).

A full exhaust is probably worth more than 20 whp by itself, considering how restrictie the stock one is.

I know people who have picked up 5% more airflow with just an intake pipe upgrade too, which is worth about 10 more whp at the 200 whp level.

I'd say 220-240 is a good guess for what he "could" make. He said could, not would. Could assumes a car in good condition, with good maintainance, and good tuning.

There's no way the stock fuel pump could flow enough to make 220+ WHP at the elevated FP necessary to flow that much air, (because of the FPR 1:1 increase).

That pump is only supporting 36psi usually, so asking it to flow at least 30% more fuel (making 220WPH would need that much more fuel) and support a 50+psi FP at the same time is unreasonable.

How are you going to tune a car with a intake, exhaust and MBC? I've never seen a GST make over 220hp to the wheels with just intake, exhaust and MBC and I've never seen any 2g make over 240 hp to the wheels with the T25. After doing some quick searches on DSMtalk, and here the highest T25 dyno sheet I saw was 222hp on a GST with a couple more mods then an intake and exhaust. I saw two GSTs with just an exhaust put down 18xhp and various I/E/MBC GST put down 19xhp. I know a local with a 99GST with a decent ammount of mods including SAFC put down 210hp. All of these have been FWD to which have signifcantly less drivertrain loss. 220-240 to the crank is a possiblity but to the wheels its highly unlikely for an AWD dsm on a T25.

Tuning can be setting the boost properly, and doing things like minimizing boost leaks.

The T-25 can flow enough air to make over 250 crank horsepower. 260 crank horses is around 220 whp on a GSX.

Like I said, it was a high guess. 220-230 is possible.

Almost 2 years ago i dynoed my car with a Joe p mbc,k&n filter,Upper ic pipes to get rid of the stock 2G bov and replaced it with a 1G bov,and a Greddy cat-back exhaust i made 218hp 230 tq at 15psi. I'm fwd but he should get 200 to the wheels easy with bolt on's. :thumb:

Thanks to everyone who responded. I am a newbie here. I just bought the car last week and i love it. I used to own a vw corrado and i like this one much more. It is also much faster then the corrado. If i ever do all of these mods and get it dynoed i will post how much hp i got. Thanks again.

Stock rating on a 2nd gen DSM is 210hp top end, 190hp at the wheels, so unless the car is in crappy condition, a 2nd gen should go up 10 hp easily with just an intake, and exhaust alone. In other words, you can get it up to 200whp if the car is still in good condition and is still near its stock speed rating.
