So I'm going to meet this guy tonight, he has a a 2g eclipse GS-T Spyder. What are some things to know and look for? I will take literally any advice. It has 110k miles, a brand new 5 speed manual with 6 puck clutch and an unknown turbo

Thoroughly read through this and take into consideration all the main points.

If I could go back to when I bought mine and look for something I hadn't, it'd be taking into consideration any defects noticed in the test drive. When I test drove mine, it stalled once and eventually led to a larger issue at hand.

An easy way to tell if the car you're looking at should be bought with caution is if it has the heat shield on the exhaust headers. If doesn't have one (or an exhaust blanket, wrap, etc) then the surrounding components are prone to breaking such as vacuum lines and/or wiring melting from the extreme heat the turbo produces.

Good luck :thumb:

Edit: Didn't notice you were going to look tonight LOL hopefully this info is relevant and I'm not too late at replying.

I went to look at it and I can say that I am not a DSM member yet, there was an unknown turbo on it, the body was in decent shape but the interior was far from decent. Not to mention the fact that the guy had an absolutely undrivable drag clutch in it with a crazy short shifter. I'm currently looking for a street car and that just wasn't it

It is best to take your time with these things, remember good things come to those who wait. Took me 3 years to find one that I was ok with purchasing and wasn't super far away. Just don't get discouraged, keep looking! Clean 2Gs are kinda hard to find in this area.
Radcliff isn't too far from Ames right? You should join Ames Car Enthusiasts on Facebook, we have tons of cool meets in the area. ISU is holing their big seasonal one this Sunday if you're interested. I'd love to see another Eclipse guy out there, even if you don't have one! haha.

I wasn't even aware that Ames had a car group, I'll definitely be joining that and thanks for the support
