I was given a hks turbo timer from my friend and believe it is a type 1 but not sure. I downloaded the wiring and the type 1 had all the wire colors mine had. I cannot figure out where the small blue wire goes to. It says it is the speed sensor wire. Just curious as to what it does. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

Speed sensor is on the transmission and it is what feeds the ECU how fast the vehicle is going. The purpose of the wire to the turbo timer harness is to make sure the timer does not kick in if for some reason you are doing 60 and kill the car.

I surmise the purpose is, if you are going 60 and kill the car (or it dies during impact) it allows for the engine to be cut off immediately for safety reasons rather than keep it running for 30 seconds. It also is probably there to save your engine if for some reason you are driving down the road and here your valves start to slap your piston, turning it off in time can save you a lot of money and headaches and if the turbo timer kept your car running for 30 or 60 more seconds, it probably did you no good.

So the too long and didn't read version is...

It checks the speed of the vehicle before determining if the timer should keep the vehicle running after shut down.

I got you and that makes sense. I appreciate the input. Now I just have to get the harness and I can install the timer.
