I just bought a HKS ssqv. It is the new version, without an adjustment screw.

I am recirculating it. It seems to make a fluttering noise at low or high boost (17 psi).

I am not sure what to do about this.

Hmmm by fluttering I assume you mean compressor surge right?? Well I can understand you can get a little compressor surge "fluttering" at low rpm but i dont know about the higher rpm range.. I am also assuming you have a boost controller since ya running 17 psi.. Is your boost controller run off you blow off vacuum line?? If this is the case you will need to run it off some other source of boost (turbo cold-side nipple in your case the J-pipe nipple) because tapping to your bov vac line causes interference and reduces the vacuum which helps pull that valve open.. I had this same problem but it was not the same blow off valve.. Try to check that first and see from there.

P.S: Sick car by the way, never seen a talon with a turbo wing before, I love it!!!!!:thumb:

I don't have it tee'd, i have a direct line running from the intake manifold to the bov. I do have the vaccum filter in that line as well(the one hks sent with the bov) but i assume this isn't a problem.

I know its sequential but it is compressor surging as well. I had a greddy type s before and I know what compressor surge sounds like......the same thing. The bov does blow off but it surges after. I haven't heard it do this in any videos i have seen online.

Im wonder would poor vaccum in the line i have running to it cause this? or maybe a boost leak?

I was doing some reading and I wanted to note that people were talking about it being more of a racing bov and meant for 17+ psi on big turbos? They said it needed this amount of boost to open properly? It is a pull type though, so i assumed it would open easy even under low boost. Has anyone heard of this? I am currently running a 14b with a 7cm exhaust housing.

I believe it is the new version. This is it below...

I had an SSQV as well and hated the sound of it for the very reason you're describing. Wound up switching to a Greddy one.
