Hi guys I just bought a 97 GST last week and the car is bone stock except it came with a HKS BOV. So I was looking at the BOV and I noticed that I can twist BOV left and right from the BOV flange. I called back to the guy who sold me the car he said thats how its suppos to be with HKS BOV. So I am wondering if he installed the BOV wrong cuz something tells me this is not right. If anybody knows please tell me thank you .

I've started to notice a very bad boost leak that sounds somewhat like my bov releasing air in quick, repeated bursts. It only happens at 22psi and higher. Wherever I have my boost controller set at, it will hold, but I can see my boost gauge needle waver once I start hearing the leak (it goes up and down very very quickly, probably no more than 1psi of boost in the fluctuation).

Anyhow, I haven't had a chance to do a leak test yet, but I've been wondering ever since I installed my HKS bov if it is supposed to be able to still be rotated once the C clip is fully seated in the flange? A friend of mine used to have one and he told me that he couldn't turn his with the clip in place. Mine can be rotated easily. The C clip is visibly recessed under the lip of the flange so I believe it's fully seated.

mine does this as well, but the last time i did a leak test i found no leaks at the flange. maybe i should re-check mine though.

So it is normal to have the HKS BOV twisting or rotating on the flange ? Doesnt this cause some kind of leak ?

You should be able to turn it. It shouldn't have any play in it or be easy to turn, but you can turn it. It is a round flange with a seal in it so the orientation can vary. Try to adjust the bolt on the back of the valve to fix the problem. That should help. There should be a bolt and a nut to secure it in place. Move it in or out to get the proper pressure relief.
