i have the Hks Adjustable cam gears obviously and when i try to put the timing belt on i marks up on the gears so it makes a straight line & the dowel pins are straight up. How come the Lines that are directly above the dowel pin are not 90 degrees from the to lines left and right of the dowel pin. Just wondering if i should worry about starting my car up with the top lines on the gear not at 12 o clock. I know VFaq says the dowel pins need to be at 12 but what about the lines can someone help before i mess something up?

As long as both the dowel pins are at the 12 o'clock position and the crank shaft is lined up where it is supposed to be you have nothing to worry about. I had the AEM cam gears and the lines that you are looking at have nothing to do with the timing they are for advancing and retarding the camshafts for tuning purposes. Just make sure the dowel pins are both at the 12 o'clock position and you'll be fine.

what i was told to do is rotate the cam until you see a hole on each one, that is how you know which way they should be facing because you use those holes to put something in there like a screwdriver or sumthin like that so you can tighten the cam gear bolts, for my car, intake is down and exhaust is up, the dowel things

both dowl pins are suppose to be up and you should take off your valvecover and hold the cam with a big adjustable wrench....

if i were you id line up the dowels if you still have the tbelt on... and line up the bottom 2(oil pump gear and crank) timing marks for TDC then do the swap..

Not to be a dink or anything but the guy is asking about how to do this on a 4g63 motor, your post has to do with a 420A motor. Don't confuse the guy he is asking for help here not confusion.

Just make sure both dowel pins are at the 12 o'clock position and hold each camshaft individualy when tighting to the specified torque. As long as you do that you should have nothing to worry about.
