Highest boost I can run?

What's the highest psi I can run on a stock block and head? I have heard no higher than 20psi if I have a stock head gasket, is there any truth behind this?

I currently run 21 psi with my evo3 16g on my 98 spyder. stock headgasket.

Please dont just ask about "psi" alone. Tell use what turbo you are wanting to boost over 20 psi with. Chances are you may not be set up for that anyway. And if you want to go with just my answer ... this is what I suggest you do.

Your whp numbers are pretty decent. If you are not happy with those I suggest you take the head off the car , check everything out, and at the minimum get a metal head gasket, and some arp head studs torqued down to 85-90 foot pounds. ( stock is 73 or something like that, but your no longer stock now are ya ).

I'm running an Evo 3 gt with a full fuel setup and pretty much all bolt-ons except intake manifold, cams, and cam gears......

Guys have run 30psi on stock internals + stock HG. With 0 knock. Running that high of boost you better make sure the car isn't knocking. Things certainly won't last as long.

I run 22 psi on my 50 trim daily with the stock HG.

I wouldn't really wanna push it much farther then this though.
