I am completely stumped. The oil level on the dipstick is extremely high to the markings. I drained all of the oil until it was barely dripping out. Poured 4 quarts of Mobil 1 oil in and changed the oil filter. When i went to check the oil level it was about a inch above the full marking. The oil pan has a couple tiny dents. Nothing too major i believe.

Start the car and let it run through the OFH and cycle for a few seconds. Than wait a few minutes to let it all settle and check it on a flat surface like snowborder suggested.

Has this been an issue in the past? Sometimes you will have some excess oil on the dipstick and it can be misleading. So check it several times.

I changed it at my auto mechanic class. The shop has a very minute slope for water drain. I checked the level several times and it doesn't seem to move, even after letting it idle for a minute or so. I was considering dropping the pan but i don't understand what could cause the level to be so high. I'll drop the pan the next time i go to class and see if anything is in it.

Are you pouring the oil in yourself, or does your mechanic class use the oil guns?

I'm not really sure what would cause it to be high. Unless you're checking it with the engine running? haha :p

Did you get the right size filter? If i'm not mistaking the filter usually takes around 1 qt of oil so if it's not the right size it could throw the level off, but I'm not 100% sure.

Found the problem. Oil pan was fine. Nothing in the pan, but the dip stick was too long. About 2 inches longer than the new oem dipstick i ordered. :banghead:

^ LOL. Glad you found the issue. Also, 1g dipstick's are longer than 2g, so I had to cut mine shorter and make my own marks from my old dip stick.
