My car has been idling funny lately, sometimes it idles between 1000-1500 rpm, but one night it was idling above 2000 rpm! OMG
I think its a boost leak because my car starts to sputter after going into boost and i can feel it getting slower, but could a boost leak really cause that big of an idle difference?
well thanks for any help guys!

i should probably specify more about my car!

92 laser awd 6/4, mods are as follows:
-big 16g
-2.5" exhaust
-BSE
-No ac
-No ps

I recommend getting a boost gauge asap. This way you can see if your reaching the proper desired boost level. Reset your idle speed. Check your isc motor.

oh yeah, sorry i have a boost guage
at normal idle it reads 18 vacuum, give or take,
and whats the isc motor?
thanks guys!

I had a similar idle problem in which it would never stay at just one setting, depending on when i stopped it could be anywhere between 1k-2.5k. Fixed it by finding a vacuum leak on my UICP and fixing it, solved it and have not seen the problem since.

Have you messed with your throttle cable lately? If you don't have enough play it the idle can change with the temperature :)

as a matter of fact, I have!
I was going to remove the cc, but then I realized that i would need a completely different throttle cable.
and I also found out that I have a major boost leak from the top of the IC, so thats going to get fixed, and if that doesn't fix it then I will buy a multi meter and test the ISC.
thanks so much guys!

Well, I plyed around with the throttle cable, and i put it back through a little clip, and that fixed the idle problem.

thanks for all the help!
