I currently have a high flow cat on my 3" dynamax exhaust. I am looking to pick up some extra power and heard my buddy with his 3000GT VR-4 gutted his cat and got decent results. My question is, would it be worth it to gut my cat if I already have a high flow cat on my exhaust now?

I am running a 3'' high flow cat right now. With the money I spent in it (it's a real cat not an ebay pipe) I wouldn't even think about gutting it. But I may have my muffler shop weld on flanges so I can switch it out for a straight pipe at the track. But to try and answer your question a little better, any restriction on the exhaust will affect performance. But I wouldn't gut your cat. Maybe go the route I plan on going. That way if you need to put the cat back on for emissions you can.

Less restriction equals more power, and you don't have smog nazis in ohio anyways, so I say go for it

Actually, about 6 counties in Ohio do have E-check, and I happen to live in one =/ That's why I was thinking of gutting it instead of just taking it off. I have a real cat as well, but it was the previous owner who handed over the cash for it.

So, yes to gains in power, but still not a good idea?
