Well then I think I will be adding a pair of halo's to my 97. I guess the thing is...what pair? What one's are plug and play? I see them all over ebay, but not sure if they are exactly plug and play or what.

Honestly, I can completely understand why eBay lights would be attractive. Relatively inexpensive and for the most part plug and play. Just to give my best advise though, anybody considering this route is truly better off retrofitting or sticking with stocker Stanley's. The concept of retrofit may seem foreign, but eBay lights are manufactured with low quality seals, fog-light grade projectors, poorly-shaped plastic that rarely bolts up natively, and terrible beam patterns. They yellow fast, like within months, and the LED halo's are very dim compared to true CCFL rings.
I only say these things because I tried for months trying to salvage my eBay's with sanding down, rebuilding, eBay HID kits. Literally everything was just shit-tier. Especially the eBay HID kits. Both ballasts blew within 1 month. I got sick of it. Found 2 new stockers for like 100 bucks, will never have headlight problems again. Hope this helps shape some decisions ;)

Also, at 2gnt99, pretty much anything that's not manufactured by stanley, or especially if it's different from OE specs, ie Halo's, projector's, especially from Andy's, it's overpriced eBay crap. Save your money.. Retrofitsource like Blurred Talon posted originally.

Again, hope this helps you guys

Haha thanks. Yeah, I've been an avid lurker for about 4 years now and decided i need to start chiming in once in a while :)
To ad to the original post, correct HID installation, as a whole, depends on how dedicated and how much pride you take in your vehicle. Major auto manufactures spend small fortunes on testing and a proving equipment for public highway use. HID's require several critical parts and installations to be completely successful and reliable. Retrofitsource has several great tech articles within the research section, similar to Crutchfields design, on how to properly choose parts and plan your install. Don't get discouraged! Just do it right, once! And never be afraid to ask!

Your posts make me happy!
Most of the Angel eye/halo headlights in the aftermarket have to small 5mm LEDs on them, they are very dim. Heck sometimes the dang things aren't even soldered correctly and don't work from the factory.

CCFL Halos or SMD LED Halos are 10X brighter.

I really should put together a How to on retrofiting and why do it.

This post is fairly popular for this topic.. He even ordered his stuff on Retrofitsource with the Morimoto products. It's fairly detailed and the concept is well supported with an in-depth tutorial including pics. Personally, this is the best way to do HID. It's using proven products like quality AC ballasts and headlamp projectors manufactured to a higher standard.

Literally just found your board, Blurred, on your retro'd 2ga housing. I remember seeing it a while ago just couldn't recollect the name.

I personally think Minis aren't the greatest performance wise.
Yes they are an easy install but for a bit more work you can have something that performs even better!

Thanks for posting my thread. I highly recommend people DO NOT attempt the TL retrofit, it's a complete pain in the ass.

You are the go to guy Anthony, so get to it! :)

Thanks.
I will have to see what pictures I have for uploading for a how to. I might have time to do it tomorrow.

so has anyone else tried the ebay version of these?? I've been looking for a product review of something like these on here.

97 99 Eclipse Black Projector Headlights Blk Twin Halo Angel Eye 10000K HID Kit | eBay

I could only find one video of a guy on youtube that has them.
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kbCYL_Z1QM]96 eclipse halo projector headlight demo - YouTube[/ame]

From the looks of them it looks like they fit well, but im curious if anyone has them that has pics of them? or a actual product review. i seen only one person in this post has said bad about them, just curious is all.

I'm finally going to attempt retrofitting myself as well, w/ s2000's projectors ofcourse. I found some OEM type headlights on Ebay. I'm uncertain about the quality so I'm thinking..."should I attempt the retro fit on my current foggy yellowed lights (which I'll eventually sand and clean) or retro fit in these guys?" 97 98 99 Mitsubishi Eclipse Headlights Headlampss Pair Left LH Right RH New | eBay
What do you guys think?

Maybe blurred knows more on that. But I've had aftermarket housings (same style) and the plastic was obviously crap. A couple tabs broke off, and don't even get me started on the lenses.

In the last week I checked, used OEM setups went for $75 shipped off our classifieds. I just received my set of headlights from a member for $75.

As long none of the plastic is broken or cracked any set should be a good candidate for a basic restoration and then the HIDs

TYC makes OEM style headlights that are apparently good quality, I have no experience with them.
I've always used OEM housings, my current ones have only 25K on them so they are nice and mint.

Try and find OEM housings if you can.

What ever you do don't get the ebay headlight they are made out of cheap plastic that turns yellow very quickly. retrofit on oem headlights look the best and cleanest. Personally I run hid with my stock headlights and never had anyone complaint about me blinding them, just make sure you adjust the lights when you put on the hids. Only 40 bucks and your good.

No offense luisito but maybe read through the thread next time to see what we're about. If you really suggest plug and play hid's in oem housings, you really need to read more.
