I have recently put an engine in a 95 eclipse (2 weeks ago). The car has a stutter on idle and a stutter under 2 grand rpm. I then thought to change the spark plugs. I got three of them changed, and one of them does not have a hex bolt on the body of the plug. There is nothing there for the socket to latch onto because there is no hex bolt. I thought how could there be no hex bolt? And then i thought someone probably tried to get the spark plug out so hard that they twisted it the wrong way and the hex bolt came off... is this possible?

Is there a tool to remove spark plugs that have stripped or missing hex bolts?

I have never come across this problem, should i try to take off valve cover and see if i can fit vice grips in there?

Should i try to break spark plug and use easy out?

It's my 21st birthday today, so i might not even need it tonight anyway... for that matter tomarrow either... LOL but any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to bother u guys... i ended up fixing it by jb kwik welding a nut onto the top of the spark plug. Worked like a charm and the car stopped stuttering!

Thanks
