Hesitation before boost (log inside!) new injectors + new evo 16g??

I just finished installing the new evo 3 16g today, and i also just put in my 560 CC Evo 8 Injectors.

Im seeing full boost at 4200-4300 RPM's, is this right? Also, there is a slight hesitation before boost where it sputters, then BAM boost comes? I was thinking that this is definetly a tuning issue with the new injectors

Heres my log i took just now (at 15 psi)

is it running SO rich that it sputters before boost?


Do you guys see any areas where I should make some changes on the safc-2?

Sorry, im real new to the whole log thing still :(
 
First of all, seeing full boost at 4200-4300 is way too late for any 16g. I get 22psi at 4k ish..with my 50 trim and fp2's.

My first thought is boost leak. Also, what are the settings on your afc-2, beause if you are running stock settings you are running terribly rich. Back in the day when I had a 16g, 550's, and an afc i ran at -20 or so on high throttle.
 
Ok, i thought that 4300 RPM's just for 15 psi was a bit rediculous. As per the safc2, yes, im running the hi throttle zero-d out across the board right now, i didnt want to start taking fuel out before i knew what aws going on :(
 
Check for boost leaks before you do anything.

Personally I think you could take out 15-20 percent fuel pretty safely. I took out more than 20% with an unhacked 2g mas...in my 2g with 550's, big 16g, and no front mount. Just lean it out slowly starting at a point where you feel safe at.
 
Yikes bro...

The o2 sensor read as high as 1.0v, so yes, thats way too rich....You can't expect to have superb tune out of nowhere...

I think the obvious thing to do right now is start leaning out the safc...At least do the compensation for the injectors

QUICK QUESTION:
- Did you remember to install new lower insulators or o rings on the injectors? I have evo8 injectors also but right now they're out waiting for new seals so I don't get the problem you have right now....

The problem is I think you have a bad boost leak...If the seals aren't new, you are probably leaking right at the injector/intake manifold location....

The only way to tell is a boost leak test, but just by your symptoms you described *hesitation, slow spool*, you sure sound like your leaking
 
Thanks Josh for the input, i defiently was not expecting a great tune out of noweher, i am just trying to find out where to start.

As per the injector o rings and seals i ordered a new kit from diamonstarmotorsports.com, but havent put them on yet (the seals on the injectors still looked good, and i hadnt recieved the gasket kit from them yet, but i now have them all and will probably change them out tonight)


I will go ahead and pull 10 % across the board and give her another run, but i know i can zero out boost leaks at:

Throttle Body (both sides)
BISS screw
Intake manifold gasket
Throttle body elbow
Entire UICP

I say this because i boost leak tested teh car about two weeks ago and had to fix all of the above areas, and i have not uninstalled or touched them since then

So im going to assume eitehr my LICP setup is leaking?? or my injector seals? since tahts really the only things ive changed since fixing all boost leaks
 
The higher the o2 values the leaner you are running. Check in my thread and take a look at some of my logs towards the bottom, they peaked .56 in some situations = rich as can be. I took away about -15% on the S-AFC II and those numbers rose to around .88-.91 still a bit rich, but close.

Look at posts #14, #20, and #21. Those o2 values in 14 and 20 are obviously TOO rich for my situation, causing lots and lots of knock and my car ran horribly. The o2 values in #21 are rather close to .94, which is usually a stoich A/F ratio. Take about -13% on the Hi Throttle settings, make another log, and post it up. I hope what I've shown is helpful!

EDIT #2 Did you reset your ecu after you installed the 560's? That will cause a bit of a problem as well. How is your o2 sensor? Is it "cycling" at idle? Basically, are the values going up and down constantly? Check some things, but keep in mind, it looks like your running horribly lean and should fix it.

That's not accurate. You most likely have a faulty sensor or a bad ground on the sensor.
 
For the narrowband O2 sensor, the 0.5v is stoich (14.7:1). Anything lower is leaner, and anything higher is richer. The reason his were going back towards 0.5v (in the Proof thread) when he was stupid rich was because all the misfire wasn't using up the oxygen, so the sensor saw more oxygen and thought the mixture was leaner than it really was.

By the way... when I see people saying to "aim for 0.92v" (an example, the number varies), what air/fuel ratio is that? Every sensor is different, so I can't understand why that advice is ever given. Use knock to tune, not narrowband O2 sensor volts!
