I'm looking into a cam upgrade over stock for my Laser(AWD), and i'd like some advice on what to get. I'm contemplating the 264 or 272's. The engine setup is this:

18G W/ TD05 compressor&exhaust(exhaust housing is ported very nicely), want to pretty much max it out at 27/28 psi
FMIC & all new IC piping
3" Exhaust w/ ported o2 housing
Megasquirt for fuel and ignition control
Stock intake, head, and valvetrain(no cam gears), stock 2G exhaust mainifold
Did a stock rebuild on the engine(stayed 1g/1g pistons/rods)

I was thinking the 272's may be a bit too agressive, i'm just not sure, would like some input on that. I dont plan to rev past stock redline. I would like to choose the best cams that will compliment my setup most efficiently. Maybe a 264/272 combo? My goal is a high 11 with this setup, so i'm hoping i can get there..i think it's do-able(with some good driving) Thanks for any input!

I run the HKS 264's on my T28. I like em, same spool up, much harder "hit" in the midrange and topend, about a 2.5 lb/min increase. Idle is "slightly" lopey, but pretty minimal. Engine sounds "cammy" when revving, like an all motor setup, I like it. I've revved to 8000 rpm with them for kicks, but I usually shift at 7000 rpm. I might try the 272 exhaust cam next.

What should you get? Well, I went straight 264's and now I'm tempted to buy the 272 exhaust cam. Hope that helps.

Hmm so you guys think the 272's wont be a bit too much for the 18g? From what i've searched, it seems people get some boost falloff with 16g's, but the 272's are a very good match for the 20g. Well i'm pretty much in between the two, i'd hate to loose any boost up top, and would like retain or loose very little low end as well...i'm just having a hard time deciding, because not too many use the 18g, not much info pertaining to cams with this turbo. I'm not worried about turbo upgrades and "wasting" a cam in the future, i can always sell them when needed..I'm looking at the FP1s or FP2's BTW..I know the 264's would be an upgrade for sure, no question about that, it's just can i get a little more for the same money for 272's, without too much more sacrifices over using the 264's. That's why i was kindof thinking a 264/272 combo..sort of in between..

I would go with the 272's and adjustable cam gears, so if the cams are to much up top you can retard them 2 or 3 degrees for more midrange pull, I got GSC 280's myself
