hello everyone, if someone can help me out with this it would be wonderful so i know where i can go from here. so my buddy has a 99 eclipse spyder and its the 10th year anniversary so it has the look of the gsx without all the bells and whistles and what not. but it has i believe a 400a (Chrysler) in it. its also a 5 speed. now he is offering to sell me it for $300.00 and thats great but i dont want the 400a i want to swap it out to a 4g63 turbo and turbo trans. now to do this swap do i need to do any fab work or do they make like a mounting kit or something. cause this is really the deal breaker for me. the interior and the top are not in the best condition along with the 400a has its fair share of wear and tare. but if i get the car im taking the whole convertible system out to lighten it up along with the rear seats ( cause we all know how useless they really are ) radio and ac is coming out as long as power steering. going to throw some braces to stiffen it up and pretty much make it just my weekend fun car. with the car only being $300 bucks i have a decent amount of play room. but if im going to have to do some crazy fabrications and everything else just to get a motor and tranny worth having in the car. im not looking at converting it to awd just fwd. like i said figured i would get me a little project to keep me busy for a little while.. but all im asking really from you guys is, is the swap going to be worth it? how hard is it to swap a eclipse over from a 400a to a turbo 4g63 (motor i would buy would be around same year as car like a 97 or something ) and is there any other turbo swaps that would maybe be easier? is a 6g72 twin turbo with 6 speed trans possible 9 (would rather not cause alot more expensive)? if i did have to make it awd would it just be parts or would it be more fab work? btw the swaps i get come complete no shit missing (ecu, full harness, trans, all the bolt ons come with, intake mani, axles, ect ect ect) so can anyone here share a little knowledge and hopefully someone can shed some light and help me see what im getting into before i buy the car and it just rots or i just sell in far down the road. really hope i get some good news cause i never really had the chance to just have a project car i could work on and not worry about me not getting around cause its not my daily. just wanna go all out and beat the shit out of it for a while. hmu and let me know what you guys think, thank you.
