Ok heres whats goin on, i am putting my center diff in and, when i get it all the way in the inputshaft that goes to the transfer case is too far in for the two little balls on the diff shaft to seat in hence i cant get my viscous coupling on. how do i get that shaft to come back out far enough for the balls to seat? ask if you need more explaination, any help would be great, thanks in advance.

As far as I can remember, you can just pull it back out a tad. There isn't anything holding it in place except that little ball once you get it in. I don't see what the problem is. Maybe you can elaborate, because it should be able to slide in and out till you get the ball in.

When you sit the tranny on the ground the shaft sticks out a tad past the mounting flange, are you sitting it on the end of the shaft when you are trying to do this? If so, stick a 2x4 or something underneath it so the shaft isn't being pushed up.

well the transmission is still in the car, because there's a vfaq on this and i followed it, but whats weird is that there is not anything on that vfaq sayin that you have to remove the transfer case, or having problems with the input shaft, idk i think im going to drop the t-case and just hold the shaft there while i lock it on the otherside. thanks.

I would definately drop the t-case, its easy enough. 5 bolts. It should be really easy to get the ball in and the VC back on.
