Help! Boost Drop (newbie) 98 gst

I need some help my boost was set at 13psi the other day i was driving my 98 gst with 13psi anyway i got on it and it sounded like a pop noise and my boost dropped down to like 8psi maybe 9psi so i turned my car off and looked to see if there was any vacum lines or anything that could have fell off and caused this but i couldnt see anything anyway i turned my mbc all the way up and now im running like 11psi max it holds boost no problem it doesnt creep down or anything when i accelerate does anybody have any suggestions or ideas to what my problem could be any info is greatly appriecated thanks

would a boost leak cause it to do it? even though its holding boost all the way up to red line?

Since you said that you turned your boost controller all the way up, you could be boosting an outrageous amount and most of it could be going out of a leak or leaks, but there would be enough to hold a constant 13 psi.

Just a thought. Either way you should do a boost leak test, no leaks is essential to having your car running correctly.

yeah, possible boost leak. but with the turbo working so hard to make only 11lbs red line, you should be able to hear that kind of leak. give us a list of your engine bay mods to help you further.

Def. sounds like you got a boost leak. Double check all your piping and clamps. Make sure the boots is fully seated on the pipe then tighten the clamp down with a socket.

It sounds like a boost leak i would check every thing over and see where it is leaking.
