Hey guys! Currently I'm driving a 91 eagle talon tsi AWD. The car has had an unknown amount of work done to it. From what I can tell it has mostly been internal work, pistons, cams, fuel injectors, and i believe the tranny has had work cause it looks like it has been resealed at some point. However, I do still believe that it is the 1g tranny, based on the pictures i have seen of the shift linkage.

Long story short is that my shift cable (the one that goes from first to second, and not side to side like switching between the 1&2 are to the 5&R) snapped. I bought a used one from another member but it turns out from what i can tell that it is the 2g shift cable, because it is about an inch and a half short and does not have the same actuation distance as the previous one. Does anyone have any experience on how to make a new one or where to find a replacement being as how they discontinued the manufacture of them? I've tried everything from searching up and down forums to junkyards to calling mopar for cable specifications and trying to find something. The picture below is the comparison between the old(red) and the new(blue) again from research i've done i believe the blue to be 2g cables. Thanks!

The Galant and DSM cables are not the same, hence the different OEM part numbers.

For a 1G or Galant, the cables need to match the cable bracket and shifter arms located on the trans as outlined in the link provided above by nbetts303. The shifter arm and baseplate in the cabin can also affect adjustability.

For the mod I did, I ended cutting about an inch off. Again, you may have a different shift lever on the trans. Just make sure all your mounting points are centered and cut. Better to cut less than more since you can always cut more if needed.
sweet thank you. Did you remove the rubber dust boot?

oh see i have a 1g and i'm having issues with the length of the throw shifting from first to second. it doesn't have a long enough throw to get into second or fourth. the other cable works just fine. i've extended the side inside the cab by the shifter but i'm thinking i need to extend it from under the hood and not the side by the shifter. that's what i thought you had done. The cables I got i'm thinking came from a 2g and i'm trying to make them work for a 1g
