Don't know why this was deleted. I looked through the search i don't need to know HOW to bypass, it's already done, just want to know the benefits if any. If there is a reason why my thread was deleted please tell me why after deleting it.

The only reason to bypass it is because it is leaking and the person does not feel like ripping apart the dash to fix it.

Probably not any benefits. Because the heater core actually acts as a small second radiator. Helping to cool the car and heat up the passengers. It's not depended on for it's cooling ability. So, I don't think there would be any drawbacks.

But, what do most people tell you to do in case your car is overheating? Turn on the heater. The heater core gets it's coolant from before the t-stat therefore if your t-stat is bad your heater will still get coolant so you can turn the heater on and still get a little bit of cooling. This will get you down the road a little ways.

So, with removing the heater core, you lose a little bit of an aid to keeping your engine cool in case of problems. Other than that, I don't think you'll notice it's gone unless it's really cold out.

Yeah i live in florida, doubt i'll be using the heater LOL. what i did yesterday when i overheated (heater core hose blew) i turned on my a/c nd it actually made it cooler while i was still spraying coolant trying to park. But i think that the heater core is bad anyways...Just a hunch.
