When the key is turned to ON the headlights were flashing like hazards. When I turned the lights on they worked like normal. I popped the hood while they were flashing and the HEAD/PHARES relay was clicking, I swapped in another relay and it kept clicking. After a couple minutes it just stopped. I dont like that it just went away. Anyone ever had this?

It's an alarm system, could be aftermarket or a factory one. There are various methods of deactivating them, and most include cycling the key in the ignition in a pattern.

I think I have the factory alarm, I set it off one time by unlocking my door from the inside and then the horn started going crazy. My horn doesnt work now, but I pulled the antitheft fuse from the fusebox before this happened. When I lock my doors now there is a green light on the dash that comes on and still says "security" How do I get rid of this? I dont see any obvious wires different from my other 1G.

OK, this is really starting to piss me off now. This problem comes and goes. Sometimes when I turn my car to ACC, or when Im driving it the headlights, just the headlights will flash like hazards with the relay under the hood clicking. It only stops if I turn the headlights on, or turn the key on and off until it wants to stop.

Ive pulled the antileft fusible link under the dash, and the antitheft relay from under the dash that was next to the heater relay. What else can I do? I hope this flaw in the security system has something to do with my horn not working. I also had to pull my power lock fuse because they were on the fritz.

Is it possible you might have a short in the wiring somewhere. Because I've had the same problem with my 90 Awd ever since I had it. But just here recently the lights started flashing, before just the door locks would go crazy and sometimes the security light would come on but then after the lights started about a week or so later my ignition fuse blows and Im thinking the only reason the ignition fuse blew was because of a short in the wiring system some where, maybe that would fix my ignition fuse and our flashing lights.

Well, I think the simplest solution would be to remove the theft alarm control unit. From the wiring diagrams, it doesn't look that bad.

Hope this helps, it's from the 1990 Laser/Talon service manual.

Don't really feel like bringing this back from the dead but I'm having teh same problem and have had it for awhile. I pulled the Anti-Theft fuse at the driver interior fuse box and it still happens. If I lock teh passenger door handle with my key from teh outside the lights will stop flashing. It will happen with the car on, off but will stop if i put the headlights on.

Any ideas?

Disconnect ALL wires on any aftermarket alarm system.
If factory alarm (2g only), unplug theft alarm circuit diode which, on my 99, is hanging above inside fusebox, has a orange casing around it, and has 3 wires going into it: red, blue, green/black. If can't unplug it you could just cut the wires.
