ok i just bought a 91 awd talon.it needed a head gasket and a trans. the guy i bought it from did the headgasket. he used a cometic head gasket 4 layer metal gasket. the motor has not been started since it was installed cause there is no trans in the car ie... no starter.can i take the head back off and reuse the head gasket?

I'd say just spend the 30 or so bux on a new OEM one to be safe. I know some EVO owners change their headstuds with the head on the car, because they come stock with metal headgaskets, but I'd play it safe and just get a new headgasket.

There is no 4 layer COMETIC HG its only 3 layers. If you are going to remove the head and the head and block have not been machined perfectly flat I would not use a metal HG. I would use the OEM and ARP head studs and you will not have any leaking problems.
You will have leaking problems if you have any block or head surface ireguralitys it wont seal with the MLS.
