Has anyone welded there differential on a gs-t

That would be good for drag racing only.. It would be impossible to make any turns. Bad Idea.

Not. Your front tire have to be able to turn at different speeds when turning. You would destroy your tires and cornering traction if you turned. You'll have to do it the right way with an LSD.

i would just go with the LSD but i do not have the money right now and i need to get the car back on the road because i blew the diff up on Friday night at the dragstrip. how ever I'm not to worried about the tire ware because i figure the little they slip around the Conner would ware the same as what they do when i hammer on the gas and just spin threw 1st 2nd and 3rd gear so that isn't a huge deal however it would be Little harder to drive making corners and would probably be tuff on axles. my roommate has a 98 dodge neon which puts down over 450HP and he drives is pretty much Daile and has no problem other than his is very tough to steer because he has no power steering also. but thanks for the great posts. keep them comming boys i love hearing ideas i still don't know what I'm going to do yet i am just looking for ideas

If you don't have the money then just pick up a stock diff. When you get the money get one. You really will not be able to drive a welded front diff. Have you even taken the trans appart?

also i have taken the trans apart and the ring gears are shot half are chipped and half are broak off. thank got that the parts didnt go threw the rest of the trans. the only thing is that a couple of teeth spun between the diff and the case and one punched a hole threw the bellhousing but i took it to y local dsm shop and he thinks he can fill that and i will clean the rest of it up and it is salvageable so i just need a diff. thanks


ps> thanks for yor info but why dont you think i will be able to turn i know it will be far tuffer but my roommate does it every day w/o power steering and i will have power steering. i realize its tuff on everything i guess i was just looking at that being an option i still need to find a diff cuz my speed sensor gear is shot and thats part of the casting.

Drill a hole through a tennis ball.... Run rope through the hole and put a knot in it. Now, go out into your driveway hold the end of the rop and spin around. Notice how a higher rate of speed is required for the ball to keep up with the inside end of the rope. Just like that simple and fun physics experiment cornering is also very simple.

Your outside wheel always has to spin faster or it will just drag. Its not just horrible for your tires but think about your axles, cv's. If you can welding your diff please, avoid it.
