I recently drained my radiator to flush it.:thumb: But after filling it back up with Radiator fluid I started it, and it was running hot. I turned the heater all the way on, and it was still running hot:banghead:; can anyone please help me with this problem, the only thing i can think of, is to undo the thermostat?

Did you purge the system of air? Get this and fill it, let your car run up to temp with the heat on full blast.
Once the bubbles stop, should be good to go.

Replacing the thermostat isn't a bad idea either. Replace it with a fail-safe model that fails open when bad.

Yeah just take off the rad cap and start your car up and let it run for a little keeping a eye on your temp and look for air bubbles coming out once you dont see them anymore you should be good to go man.

Liquid expands when hot so I take a funnel and push it into the opening with the radiator cap off. Run the car to normal temp, the air bubble will come out and it makes less mess due to filling the funnel and not running out. Also give it a rev once in a while while warming up incase any bubbles are stuck. When up to normal temp carefully touch both the upper and lower radiator hoses. If they are the same temp your thermostat is fine if they are different, one cool and one hotter the thermostat is shot. Post back when fixed and let us know what it was.

I recently bought an 1990 eagle talon tsi and did complete fluid flush on everything. The radiator sounds like maybe you didn't get it full of fluid. I would do like the post above says fill the radiator up all the way. Then let run at idle speeds with heater on full blast like you mentioned in your original post with a funnel in because the fluid is going to make a mess if not get all the bubbles out of system and add more coolant if the levels go down after thermostat opens to fill the block. Check the hoses both should be hot and if there is a cold lower radiator hose then thermostat is not working properly. My personal experience when you flush the radiator and unsure the condition of thermostat its a cheap part I would just replace it. also if that doesn't work then I would start looking towards the water pump could be going bad and not circulating the fluid to keep it cool. there's not to many parts to your system so start with the inexpensive and go from there. hope that helps I just graduated automotive school and this is what ive been taught. hope it helps let me know if it fixes it.

Also I forgot to mention some cars that have head gasket problems will over heat regardless. A quick check for this not always works but works most of the time check the oil dipstick and see if its watery or milkshake looking or you smell coolant in the oil is a good indicator of a blown head gasket. just something to look at hope its not that extreme but you never know.

Everything was working properly before flushed t. I think its because didn't get the air bubbles out the system. So when i can, I'm going to take the cap that hooks to the upper radiator hose cap right? then let it idle with the heater on if I'm correct? I'm semi new to the DSM world, and want to make mine into a beast.:rocks:

ya take the radiator cap off heater on and let it warm all the way up and add coolant if needed to top it off and make sure you get all bubbles out of the system. after it heats up and no more bubbles carefully check upper hose and lower hose they should both be warm to hot but if the lower one is still cool to the touch you have issues with thermostate and possibly the water pump thats been my experiences with cars in general. hope this helps and i bet with work and money you will make a beast. im currently starting to build mine to run fast 1/8 mile times on the stock turbo see if i can get anywhere close to some records or atleast beat up on some mustangs LOL.

also check and make sure you diluted the fluid properly. a coolant tester is pretty cheap and good to have around.

gotta solid year or so before that should happen. Obviously the car has gotten warm so make sure its full. Then check thermostat.

Ok i got you man. I just started working, and I'm graduating next week, so I'll be busy. I have to fix the car, save up for college, and help my mom with college. LOL busy.:hellyeah:

Many of us have done that! Maintained the car and daily drive it to work out all of the issues that prevent reliability and once you have a solid reliable daily driving platform design your goal/plan for the car and start building to beastly stature!
