I have problems with the knock sensor and i'm just thinking i should run a new wire and bypass the whole harness. How do i go about running a new wire to the knock sensor?

Pin 9 is the signal wire for the knock sensor (white)
The other wire (black/white stripe) goes to ground.

But before you go spending time on a potentially needless task, check for continuity through the harness, then check to make sure that black wire is going to ground. Are you getting a CEL for the knock sensor?

well i just did the continuity test(can't believe i didn't think of this before being the im an electrician) and it didn't read. I ran a line from the white wire to ground under the hood, and then hooked up the meter to the #9 pin on the harness. So i guess that mean i gotta hard wire it? :\ what kind of wire am i supposed to use?

Edit: I cut the wire wrapping stuff under the hood and ran a new wire to a ground. Disconnected the battery for like 20 mins then hooked it back up. Same thing. Im guess the original ground is still good.

Update: i just rewiredthe knock sensor and its still reads the code...... is my car stupid????? I cut the wire for the plug. grounded it, ran the wire to the computer, cut the wire off of the harness and spliced into that wire left for the harness. did i do it right? please help im really getting upset

Did that wire pass the continuity test? I know it's a stupid question, but perhaps there's a problem with the harness connector.

the new wire? i have tried.... i need the multimeter again and its at my dads shop :p umm what if the harness is no good? do i run a line right into the computer and force it with the rest of the harness. You know like shove it on then connect the harness
