2G Hard piping for stock SMIC?

My next upgrade I have planned for my 95 Talon is hard intercooler piping. I'm trying to following the upgrade path guide and this is the next available step (besides the exhaust which I'm waiting till the summer for).

I want to replace all the intercooler piping with hard pipe. I have a 1g bov with 2g flange currently.

What would be the best place to buy this? Can the pipe be bought for cheap on ebay? Or is Dejon Powerhouse the best available option? I want to get it cheap but I am also willing to pay a little more for quality.

You might want to wait, I bought hard piping but a lot of fmic have the short route. witch you would not need the upper pipe. Just a thought.

Well I would not be changing to a fmic for a long time as that would not be needed for my stock turbo.

I've been looking at the dejon pipes and I think it's pretty steep for just some pipe. $70 for the lower pipe, $105 for the upper L pipe, and $90 for the S pipe. $265 for just pipe which seems pretty steep.

Can I do what most people did with their intakes (I did aswell) and buy cheap pipe off ebay and get the couplers and clamps from a quality maker? Are intercooler pipes all the same like intake pipes?

This is the only piping kit I can find on Ebay. Does this look any good?

It says it has a stock 2g bov flange but that looks like the 1g. Doesn't matter to me but the listing is wrong and I wounder what else could be.

Pipes is pipes. If you learn on a SMIC you can generally make the UICP fit to a short mount FMIC and then make your own LICP. The ETS race core is only $500 but with piping kit it is closer to $900, so learning to make your own can help you out.

Measure the diameters of your TB elbow and the IC and you can get an idea of the size of pipes you will want to run. A kit like ETS is 2.5" so if you plan on going that route keep that in mind.

I run an ebay EVO upgrade IC with custom pipes. It was pretty easy to do.

For $265 you could get a kit like this

and all the adapters to make them fit. You'd have way more than enough pipe left to do another car or two as well.

There are mild steel kits as well, which along with a $75 flux core welder would be a great way to learn to weld and make something really cool.

I made my pipes out of junkyard radiator hoses, worm clamps from the same cars, and exhaust pipes off of trucks. It's 2.5" short route to a FMIC to a NT throttle body. Holds 20psi from the 14b all day, and the boost leak tester broke before I could get a coupler to pop off. It's not rocket science, just takes some time to plan out : D

get that ebay kit, pipes are pipes . it worked fine for me before, cheap and good and i got also an intake pipe with filter for 30 USD as well with it.

You should buy a fmic kit off of eBay, I bought mine off of eBay for less than 300 shipped for my 2g and I like it... It just a thought and one less thing you have to upgrade later on

I agree with "tkelly27" Making your own kit makes for good practice learning a new skill/ trade and how a kit works!
I made a FMIC kit that was originally made for a GVR4 that I bought from a local forum member for 50 dollars! I made it fit my 2G, I made the hot pipes from the turbo and intercooler, the upper intercooler pipes, and mounting the intercooler.
Its a good learning experience..
Just make sure to make the welds air tight

The other cool thing is that you don't have to have your car down forever to build it. I had my FMIC in the car for a week before it ever got fully plumbed. You can keep the SMIC in place until you've figured out the pipes. Work backwards from the IC to the turbo and throttle body and finally connecting your IC will be an afternoon job.

When I was learning I could never get a weld without a pinhole or 3. Jb weld around the joint and it would pass the pressurized under water test. 5 years later I can lay a leakproof bead with the flux core.

$55? How did you get them so cheap? Was this a group buy sort of thing or from the classifieds?

For now I'm leaning to just hard pipes and not a fmic kit as I will not be upgrading to a larger turbo for a long time.

I think I might go with the Ebay kit I posted. It seems fairly well put together and it's only $100.

p.s. Where would be a good place to order hoses? Such as the hose for the bov and intake hoses (as the ebay lines that came with the pipe are crap and are the wrong size).

The UICP was $40 shipped. The lower was $15 shipped. I also got a Greddy Type-S Blacktop for $50 Shipped.

You just have to look around at items that have been around for awhile.
