I am thinking about gutting the interior because im inspired from the Goodwill project. If anyone has done this let me know how bad it sucks later on. I have to drive the car everyday and im in confusion as to what to take out, and what to leave in. Let me know...

I've rode in my friend's gutted 91 Laser, the only downside to it was you could hear all the noise from passing cars and the fuel pump whine is louder than ever.

It wasn't that hard to acutlaly gut the interior, just takes a while to get it all done

I have a 93 TSI AWD with all the sound deadening from the floor removed, still has all interior panels and carpet but no extra padding under the carpet, and you can REALLY hear road noise. This is not my daily driver and would never be. If i remember correctly, the goodwill thing they removed the dash and panels and everything like that, to me that would not only look like crap to drive around it, but the road noise would also annoy me on long trips.

on my 2g gst, y shaved all unnesesary metal from the inside of the door. also removed the fat tube on the inside of doors, removed carpet and sound proof material, and replaced with thin carpet. removed all airconditioning system.compresor, brakets everyting, you can see the firewall if you look trough the air vents, removed rear seatbelts, bumper thingis, removed heatshields from under the car, removed lots small heavy brakets that are bolted all over the car and in conjunction have significant weigh, removed everything from trunk. rearwiper and motor, plastics, sparetire, waterbottle. removed stereo equipment, amp, woofers, ect. well in the end I ended up with 4 big plastic bags full of things. pretty heavy. Id say I removed from 150 to 200pounds without counting the sparetire and jack. OHH and now I have a toolbox filled with lots and lots of screws from all over the car. you want more weigh savings. buy light weigh rims it makes a hell of a difference. CF or fiberglass parts, lexan windows, convert from power steering to manual rack. if you have a 3" heavy exhaust change it and make it 3" aluminum.
