GSX vs Integra Type R

Not trying to be a mag racer but I have an older Super Street issue and we all know how Honda/Acura biased Super Street is. Anyways... they lined up a 2g GSX and a ITR and the gsx clicked off a 14.9 and the ITR clicked off a 15.0. I'm sure both cars are capable of better or worse times but I would have to say it would come down to the drivers ability from a dig. The GS-T would stand a better chance from a roll since the weight and drivetrain HP loss is greater in the GSX. The ITR is a great car with no torque but it does come with a lsd which helps alot from a dig compared to a GS-T. But we all know which car is the best for the best bang for the buck title. Hands down GST/GSX

Super Street is crap plus if it was an old issue it must have been an older type r. My buddy ran a 14.75 on a bone stock yellow type r. If i had they money i would take that car and modify the hell out of it. Three hondas i like the most are the NSX, S2000, and ITR. Thye type r is an amazing car and it shocks the hell out of me everytime i'm in it. It handles like a dream and it is so responsive. Plus not to contradict what Speedy was saying but the ITR has alot of torque and pulls very hard!! But i do love my mitsu and wouldn't trade it for anything except for an AWD. Mitsu's are good for guys who wanna go fast and are on a budget. Hondas are expensive to modify but if you have the money then they can be crazy fast.

well he still doesnt have it but when he does i will race him. they run 14.7's? well my friend has a g-tech and i am not sure how accurate thoes things are but i ran 15.5 @91 mph. i also have a cracked exhaust manifold and some holes in my cat. also i am not the best at launching/driving i have only had the car for 2 1/2 - 3 months so i am still learning. by the way, are the g-tech's any where colse to being accurate?

I agree that Super Street is crap. I just think that it's funny because the GSX beat the ITR in a Honda/Acura biased magazine. Plus I didn't think there was any difference in an older ITR than a new one. 130 LB FT of torque isn't that much. The only reason the ITR does so good is because it makes alot of it's power at redline. That's why if you race one you had better get a good launch and hope to stay out in front.

The older type r's for some reason are alittle slower with 190hp compared to the 195hp the newer one has. Plus i think the newer one is alittle lighter giving the 190hp mopre gain. Though when my tsi was bone stock my buddy with his ITR and I both dropped our cars into 3rd on the highway when we were side by side and i slowly pulled on him. So thats why is still love my car plus the fwd helps on those highway pulls:thumb:

I walk mustang gt all day along with type rs...yes they are fast but not fast enough. I have owned both honda and dsm, both are great but dont fear a honda unless they have the thing modded like crazy.

Type R who cares all that money for 197 HP I'm happier with my 210.
Well Shifty this is what you gonna do stop listening to all this Honda lovers and race the dam car i'm pretty sure you'll smoke it. Good Luck.

around here we have a yellow ITR, dont think the color adds hp, never know though, either way, its turbo charged. he cut me off one day and and i loved every second of it. my dad has a gs-r and shes not too bad, walked on a few V8s in that, but his had a CF hood, FMIC, sexy. him and a civic with a b18c1 w/a T3 raced. ITR beat him by a lot

yeah but that 195hp adds alot more since that car is way lighter than any dsm:thumb:

with equal talent at the wheel id have to say the gsx would come out the winner. Even though the type R is lighter, it has a minimal amount of torque. They are quick , but not fast there all about top end power. I had a 96 gti with the vr6 and i raced one at the track twice and beat him both times and the gsx is faster than the vw.

195 horsepower plus no torque and about the same weight as a fwd turbo eclipse, all i have to say is no contest... the gsx will smoke it and a fwd will beat it even worse.

Ok where here's the facts nothing else. A ITR and a GSX both completely bone stock with equal driving on both sides, the ITR will win no matter what. I don't care what anyone says i love my mitsu's but i have seen my buddy's ITR smoke gsx's gst's all day long. Even with an intake and exhaust with no boost increases the ITR is still going to win. It runs a 14.7 stock, ask anyone who knows these cars and they'll tell you the same thing. A stock gsx will run a 15.2 so if can't run better than 14.7 your a goner. You'll take him off the line but he's goona pass you and win. But like everyone has said before, race him and find out and chances are he can't run a 14.7 so you have a chance. It takes less skill to drive a gsx right than it does a ITR. Use the AWD to your advantage.

This is from LVD last year:

2000 Integra Type R Weigh In: 2,639 LBS without driver, unknown gas, no spare.

My 1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD w/ 1/4 tank & no spare: 2,991.

Matt.

Damn guys my friend ran a 14.5 with his stock tsi.

What is all this jocking a high 14 second car. If he has a 1g gsx it will be over really quick. If he has a 2g he will get the jump but the type r might, MIGHT catch up top end.

Both cars are nice. But once you mod the gsx it will rape the type r like a toy car in the 1/4. Even 100 dollars in mods.

The type R was built for something other than the drags.

well it doesnt matter now ... he just bought a brand new WRX. so i am pretty sure he will beat me but i can allways say after that race........"so that extra car lenght you beat me by was worth that $25000 right?" he will be pissed:)

not yet, car is pretty much stock, but ill give him a chance some time;)
but the b18c1 T3 civic that he beat, i herd beat a wrx, so it can still be fun, plus i herd from a fellow dsmer in my school that he raced a 2g awd 20g and it was pretty damn close, think he has it on tape
