Hey there guys, just wanted to give some info in regards to installing power seats in a Spyder GS.
For some reason almost every other model of the eclipse/talon has 2 plugs for the seats
1. Seat belt indicator
2. Power hookup for power seats.
except Spyders, dunno why, but thats just the way it is.
It was easy to figure out but I was pissed when I searched for the plug under the carpet while everyone in the forums said "its there". Well its not, and I'm not gonna put power seats in a car and not use them properly (some people just put them in and never adjust the seat cos theres no power -___-).
Easy solution, hook it up to your accessory/cigarette lighter by splicing the lines and plugging the leads into the seat with these guys:
1/4" Fully Insulated Quick Disconnects (10-Pack) - RadioShack.com
The wiring is basic so theres no need to do step by step, just tuck all the excess wire into the console and plug and play.
Just make sure the positive and negatives are properly connected before you bolt it in, if they're reversed the controls on the seat will be reversed.
If you push forward on the seat control, and the bracket moves forward, that means the seat is actually going backwards and you need to switch them (think relative to the seat actually being mounted).
Here's a pic of the splice to the back of the cigarette lighter:
and here's a pic of the radio shack connectors going into the power seat plug
Its not a HUGE mod but compared to my original cloth seats, these leather GSX seats are a god send, and since almost every GSX owner in my area goes aftermarket bucket theres a good amount of decent condition leather seats floating around. Plus now I can fully recline! and I have enough sense to not completely destroy my rear speaker mesh
