I bought my car with a 'Ractive' muffler welded on. It sucks. I got an OEM 2G GST muffler. I went to the shop, put my car on the lift, and found that the muffler wouldn't work. The stock one has 2 bolts, and the GST one has 3.... Also the hangars on the Ractive muffler are very long, and I doubt the GST hangars will match up... Whats up with that? I thought it was supposed to be a direct fit, or did the muffler shop possibly mess with things when installing the Ractive one? Can someone get me a pic of what the 2GNT hangars and bolts should look like?

Do you have just the GST muffler or the axleback portion? It should just bolt right up to the stock exhaust. Did the people before you have a whole cat back custom-made maybe for the muffler?

I'd say they screwed with your stock exhaust when they put the Ractive muffler on, because mine had three bolts, not two...

749 said exactly what I would have. However I would mention that the muffler shop that looked at the car seems a bit ignorant since had the pipe been tampered with, they could tell. Not to mention suggest that it can still be mounted on the car, it would just require a bit more fabricating and cash.

Out of fucus, but you get the point, there appears to be a resonator or enormous cat welded on after the secondary O2 sensor.

This is the cat, I think they chopped the last part of this and put on new 2-bolt flanges from there on...

No no... that resonator is stock, and the cat is supposed to have two bolt flanges. The final break point in the exhaust (right before the muffler), however, is supposed to consist of three bolt flanges. I just double checked on CAPS. So they must have welded on a two bolt flange somewhere between that resonator and that final break point I was talking about.

cat flange = ok

Someone added the second flange by the fuel tank. That is how many aftermarket exhausts come. There should be another flange right in front of the rear crossmember right where the pipe goes over the crossmember. That flange will be a three bolt.
