I know the gst mufflers flow better than n/t and have a bit deeper of a tone, but has anyone connected it to some 2.5" piping?? Im looking for some performance gains but still trying to keep the exhaust note quiet. Thoughts/ideas?? :dsm:

Not sure what your asking so I will try to respond. Since you only have a cai your not going to see much performance gains with 2.5" piping. As far as sound I wouldn't assume it would be loud at all with the gs-t muffler on.

i guess you could, but the muffler inlet on the GS-T muffler is the same size as the stock piping, so i dont think the bigger piping would do much. just get a nice N1 exhaust and put the silencer in, i got mine for $190 brand spankin new

Correct me if I'm wrong Chris.

Air flow can only travel as efficient as the narrowest part of the exhaust. Even though the silencer is the very last constrictor, wouldn't it slow the flow down at least a little?

Also I don't like the way silencers look, but it would damper the sound if you wanted to go that route.

Of course, you can always go custom. Just buy a muffler and get some piping :thumb: That's what I'm still planning on doing this summer (hopefully).

oh yes, the silencer does restrict airflow a lot. i was saying he could use that more as a for every day driving to keep it quiet, and take it out when he wants the extra power. personnally i dont think the exhaust is that loud to begin with tho.

I guess we all have different opinions on what 'loud' is. I can't say that I've heard a DSM with an N1 (I probably have but didn't know what it was). And your turbo (jealous :shhh: ) acts as a sound dampener.

haha ya it did make it sound a lot better and a little quieter, but i ran this exhaust for a long time NA. it still wasnt that loud. but the turbo did make it quieter and got rid of ANY crackles :D
