GS-T Spyder Fiberglass Hardtop

Hey everyone. My 99 GS-T turned into a project after it took a dump on the highway. So seeing as it needs a little body work done to it, a friend of mine and I decided that we are going to experiment with some fiberglass. Now obviously I will put a roll cage just wondering if it has ever been successfully done; a fiberglass removable top using hood pins to hold it on (or something like that). I want something no one, or at least very few people, have done. Just would like some advice/help from anyone with fiberglass experience or experience in doing a hardtop on a spyder. How expensive, how hard, comments, concerns, etc.
 
I concidered doing this on my last spyder, and purhaps for my new spyder. I do have experience with aircraft fiberglass, which I personally think is way better than the automotive counterpart, but I need to find a decent spyder top in the salvage yards. No luck yet....

If you were in ohio we could work collaborate, I have my current top and a brand new top. that I am going to put on if i can't get it done. but I'll be d@mned if I give up easily. :nono: and I'll definitely look into the aircraft fiberglass.

I plan on doing it once i get a new top as well. I like the aircraft fiberglass because it's a finer weave and doesn't itch. Plus I've been working with it for a decade so I know some short cuts with it :sneaky:
I wouldn't (won't) give up easily either. The only thing I want to do with it is to get it to fit with the soft top still attached, but somehow, I don't think that'll happen... :cry:

and I don't want the soft top. I want to get rid of all that crap and drop some weight!
 
Has any one considered to turn a Spyder top into a targa top? Im thinking it should be pretty easy as the front latches are already there as well as the weather stripping, you just need to cut/ unbolt the frame and weld it in specific areas. Then your choice of a sheet metal or fiberglass outer layer (or just keep the cloth top and have options (convert. top completely up, targa top, or convert. top completely down).
