I can't remember any links for how to make fiberglass so if anyone has some it would really help. Also some estimates for how much the supplies would cost, thanks.

what r u trying to make exactly? Whenever i fiberglass i get sum cheep wal mart paint brushes and cut the bristles off so they r short....then dip it in your mixture and short little stabs. Not as messy that way. I like to use fleece also, it will hold alot more mixture. But it all depends on how big your project really is. You can try to talk to the guys at

www.caraudio.com and look under Box Construction/ Fiberglassing, they give some excellent help.

I finished my enclosure for 1 12(I changed my mind on the hatch box) I estimaite the enlosure to be right at 1 cubic foot. With that said, I spent roughly 60 dollars on 4 yds of t shirt type material(extra is no biggy), 1 gallon and 1 quart of f/g resin, 6 packs of f/g mat, 20 cheapo paint brushes fom the dollar store, 2 wood dowels from walmartt craft dept to hold speaker ring. I already had a 4ft by 4ft sheet of mdf for the speaker ring.Fits nicley in the right side of the trunk, the whole thing is about 9 glass layers thick. Now things I've learned,
1. don't get the glass mat from walmart, autozone, it's too light, it's only 1/2 oz, go to a body repair store(not shop) or a marine supply store get at least 3 oz thick(six times thicker than the walmart mat) they make it up o 20oz thick,It's still just as cheap as the walmart stuff but better, these stores is where I'd get the resin too.
2. If I were to paint, I would use gel coat as my top layer smooths out on its own(used on boats to get the top layer)
3. a roller, I had a few air bubbles I could not get out so I drilled and filled with resin.
4. a dustmask enough said
I'll get pics out later
It was really easy, I used chris's web site as a tutorial, that guy is gold use it up. :thumb:
edit: I spent rougly 3 days doing this project, this was 4 hours a day(houston gets ####ing hot at 11am until dark so I had to get up early to start) I sanded down all the tall stuff but didn't apply a filler because I was just gonna cover it. I used the t shirt material and It was a good match for the grey interior.

I almost forgot about Kyle's page!

http://www.cardomain.com/id/kyle_harty

Pages 6 and 7 give an excellent tutorial.

If you're molding this in your car, do yourself a BIG favor and get some plastic tarp too. Seal off as much of the cabin as possible from where you're using the resin. I made a corner subwoofer enclosure and taped plastic from the bottom of the hatch to the roof of the car under the hatch door. If you don't, you'll be trying to air out your car for another week.

I didnt have any problems with smell when the enclosure cured, it was done out side, with the exception being the back of the enclosure, but I had the windows down and the hatch up so no biggie. Go thru all of chris's, he has F/G I and II, then he has my car, He has a nice set up under there too. He is where I got my idea for a carputer :thumb:

thanks for the replies. Now i just gotta get some money to buy a new amp and if everything goes right i'll have a nice new box in a couple months
