ok i had my CD player installed months ago, but ever since i had it i could always here this electric sound, like white noise or something. I think that it could be grounded somewhere that is making this noise...could this be the case? where would a good ground for the CD player be? thanks.

-Jon

any screw near the cd player that touches metal pretty much... personally, i try and stay away from the ecu and use the one thats on the drivers side under the carpet right near the lower dash...there are a few screws there, any will do...

I have the same problem and thought that it might be my ground so i checked and there wasnt good contact so I tightened it down and still have the issue. let me know if a diffrent ground helps you

thanks

The console bracket works fine as a ground source (the bracket that holds your radio in it's position), it's bolted to the chassis of the car and so on.
The noise you hear is most likely alternator whine. If the noise accelerates as the car does then it's a ground issue. If it does NOT accelerate as the car does then it's an equipment issue.
The electrical equipment installed is also an issue, especially if you have even one item not grounded correctly, or poor quality equipment. It can still be a ground issue though.

Make sure you have these....
-bare metal to ground to (no rust or the likes)
-3ft of ground wire and no more (less is better)
-If butt connectors are used make sure they are pressed tight
Make sure the installer didn't attach the radio's ground wire to the aftermarket harness since the factory harness does not have a ground wire connected to it, instead a braided ground strap was used and connect to the factory radio, don't use that either (they are POSs).

I'll let you know tomorrow when i have my day off. I will try see if i can find something different, because it is really annoying to hear the sound all the time.

The top-left radio mounting screw goes into chassis sheet metal; grounding the radio to any of the four bracket screws should be sufficient. If you're using aftermarket brackets, you'll probably have some deeper issues since most of them are plastic and effectively insulate the radio chassis from the car chassis.

I would make sure you have metal to metal grounding meaning use one of those screws but take it out and scratch off any paint so its metal to metal. Also check your speakers they could be causing the problem. Are all the deck connections properly made and insulated?

I was going to say that too. I have notice in the past that if the wires for the speakers are crossed I got more white noise for example you have the two wires for each speaker. If you cross the wires when hooking them into the speaker. You know what I mean?
