I don't know a lot about these grounding kits you can buy for your car, but I have seen some in a few different magazines and online. They claim that it will give you increased horsepower, cleaner power curves, better idle and smooth engine rev. I was wondering if buying one of these would be worth it, and if anybody has ever done this to their DSM. Thanks.

Your can needs grounds but it your factory wires are not corroded or broken/missing, you'll see no benefit from the kits.
You can buy the stuff you need, if you wish to replace your grounds from parts express
www.partsexpress.com check the power wiring and connectors for car audio....

These kits are mostly hype in my opinion. Make sure you have a good heavy guage ground to the engine block (4ga. or larger). Then make sure you have a good 8ga or better ground wire going to the body (shorter in legth is better). Check for any signs of corrosion where the cables make their connections. Check to make sure all connections are tight. Check the resistance from different points on the car to the negative battery post using a multimeter to check for any breakdowns (post to block, post to ecu ground wire, post to fuel pump ground wire, etc.) if you question the grounding system.

I bought a Ralliart ground wire kit on eBay for pretty cheap, though shipping was about the price of the kit. After I put it on, I noticed my gauge lights didn't dim as much when at a stop with the turn signals on like it used to, I got about 4 mpg more than without it, and the car's acceleration seemed much smoother. Did it gain me any horsepower? Probably not. But it looks pretty in the engine bay, was easy to install, and maybe saves me some gas. I say if you have the money and have nothing else to buy, or are looking for a cheap present to get someone, go for it. Or make your own, which would be even cheaper.
