I have a 98 gst. Grinding when accelerating in first and second gear. In reverse it is fine. I have replaced cv halfshafts and wheel hub assemblies to remedy. There was a new clutch installed one week before I bought it and saw the reciept with my own eyes. Had car for about 2 months and now this goes down. HELP

Grinding or rubbing?

If it's grinding, I don't know bro, drain some gear oil and look for any shavings. I don't like to jump to bad things first, it's a pet peeve of mine, but you may have a bad tranny my friend.

Is this just during shifting or all the way through the gear? Is it just less noticeable in higher gears or non-existent all together?

I really wish I could hear the noise, I am trying to think of anything that could potentially grind in low gears and be gone in higher gears. I really can't think of anything. If it's trule a grind the possibilities list is very small.

it is not during shifting, just when gas is applied about 30% or more. The only reason I say 1 and 2 gears is because after that, I am alright and don't need to apply that much to accel. But I am positive that it would if I laid into it.

Yes, whichever is your personal preference. Just don't use any crappy stuff. Keep in mind that our transmissions can be a little more notchy when the temperature drops using these synthetic gear oils, and that is normal and nothing to worry about.

I know my trans has a loud whine to it in first and second with either accel/decel, full throttle/no throttle. Its almost as loud as reverse is. Its been like this for almost 2 years with oem fuild, Syncromesh. Nothing has changed. So I'm trying MT-90 in a few weeks. So has the sound been there for a while and just now getting louder? Or is this brand new and affecting drivability?

This has started in the last 3 weeks. And I went ahead went about 50 percent in third, and the problem is in all gears and not just first and second. I very much doubt it is the fluid; considering it had the same fluid and it started. It is mechanical and not to do with lube unfortunately.

brand new, but today I am having the car diagnosed. So I will keep you all informed about what is causing that for future users.

Turns out there was a bad gear in my diff. That sucks. Installed rebuilt tranny and now the tranny won't come out of Reverse. FML
