GReddy Turbo Timer Turns Off With Indicators/Wipers :/

Sup guys, about a day after getting my turbo timer installed I noticed that it keeps making loud clicking noises and it turns off if I hit the indicators or the wipers. Also it turns off randomly just while driving, like it will make a crap load of ticking noises and the unit turns off and then back on again. I took it back to the shop I got it installed from and he wired it another way and its still doing the exact same thing.

The guy at the shop showed me his test light and the test light turns OFF when the indicator turns ON which is so weird. Ill make a vid as soon as I get out of work. This also happens with the wipers, the minute I click it down the turbo timers shuts off and turns back on, as well as if I have it on the intermittent setting of the wipers it only turns off when the wipers move can any one help me with this, its really annoying me now Thanks in advance!

Did you use the available wiring harness?

I believe so, I bought it off a friend and it had a bunch of wires coming from the end of it.

They make a separate wiring harness that is usually purchased separately. I know I had to buy both pieces when I got the hks one for the gst.

I think I have the harness because once I pull my key out it completely stops clicking and counts down perfectly.

Anyyonee! I found out I have the harness. Could it be a bad unit?

ok soo if i move the wires under my dash around the clicking seems to stop but it still turns off with indicators

Sounds like your turbo timer is not connected to a TRUE power source. A not true power source is one that goes through another power consuming device before it reaches the battery (so it's not wired correctly). So when you turn on that device it drops voltage such that this one doesn't have the necessary voltage to operate properly (they are connected in series).

This often happens when someone uses a voltage meter to check a wire for power instead of an incandescent light bulb. Meters draw no power so they will always show 12v even through another device (a not true power source). Example: connect one side of an incandesent (not led) 12v light bulb to battery +12v and measure voltage at other side of bulb - you will read +12v (and bulb will be off). This is a not true power source since if you connected another device (eg. another light bulb) to the other light bulb side (side you measured 12v on), that first bulb will drop voltage causing not enough voltage at the 2nd bulb (which will be dimmer than normal).

So you need to rewire your power wire to a true power source. Use an incandescent light bulb and make sure it's at normal brightness to locate a true power source.

Okay thanks bro! I asked my mechanic who put this in and he said he used the fat ignition wire. Which other wire can we use for this not to happen?

First verify if this is the problem. Connect an incandescent light (NOT an LED) to the same place your TT is. Now see if the brightness is the same with the TT on and off and then again with the wipers on and off. Or you can measure the voltage there with those devices on/off to see if it drops.

on my way to work i got mad at the insanely loud clicking so i grabbed a crap load of wires from under the dash and viola! it stopped clicking and when I hit the indicator the timer didnt turn off So when I get home form work im going to see what mess is going on under the steering wheel..maybe its a wire getting pulled or something that isnt wrapped up properly
